The RD500LC (RZ500 in Canada and Australia) was a road-going V4 two-stroke inspired by Yamaha's OW80 Grand Prix racer, with reed-valve induction, YPVS power valves, a balancer shaft and a close-ratio side-loader gearbox. It used a steel frame, a 16-inch front wheel and anti-dive forks, and launched in 1984.
